How to Make the Best out of your Confinement

Confinement brings with it a lot of change and with change comes challenges for everyone.

Whether you are adjusting to working from home or you are adapting to long periods of isolation if you live alone, we’ve put together our top tips to help you make the best out of this involuntary confinement period.

Prioritise Self Care

Self-care means something different to everyone but taking even small steps to take the pressure off yourself in these uncertain times can make a huge difference to your mental health. Put aside some time every day to relax or do something you enjoy. This could be meditation, watching a TV show that you like or enjoying a bath. Having something to look forward to can do wonders for your outlook on life and help pass the time during confinement. It is also essential that you don’t expect too much of yourself in these strange times.

Stay Connected

Checking in with friends and colleagues virtually can help you to regain a sense of normality and keep those feelings of loneliness at bay. A quick conversation is enough to keep spirits high. Send a message to a family member, call a colleague for a catch-up or enjoy a group chat with a glass of wine and a take away on a weekend.

Learn Something New

If you find yourself with more free time while in confinement, why not use it to learn a new skill? If you have always wanted to learn another language or step up your cooking skills, there has never been a better time. Increase your knowledge on a particular subject of your choice by reading intellectual books or add to your library with some eye-opening non-fiction. Just think what scintillating conversations could result from this once confinement is over.

Get those Endorphins Flowing

Of course, it is not always possible to stay positive 100 percent of the time and if you find you are struggling with low moods, exercise can help. A short burst of cardio can get the blood pumping around your body and help you get those feel-good endorphins pumping to really lift your mood. You can find a whole host of workouts to try online and you can set yourself some fun fitness goals to complete that will have you looking and feeling your best.
